Today I worked on the new layout product for the Plone update of OOoAuthors a bit further. I customized the colors and the header of the test-site. Here is an screenshot of the current test-version:

Since I returned from the OOoCon Beijing I worked on a layout product for the current Plone 3. I develop this product because it is planed to update the OOoAuthors-Site to the current Plone version and so all customization of the site will be lost. Therefore it is necessary to make all this changes in the new Plone environment again. The best way to avoid this extra work for upgrades in the future is to develop an add-on layout product, that could be installed easily on Plone: a just one-click-installation.

I gave today a presentation about OpenOffice.org Portable on the OOoConference in Beijing. My presentation covers an overview about the usage, the technique behind, the installer, the known issues and the benefits for the user and the marketing of OpenOffice.org. There are many visiters of my presentation interested in getting a localised version.
I pointed them to the portableApps page to speek up, that there is a need for their language.
After the presentation I had a longer discussion with some very interesting people and gave a live demo of OOoPortable.

Yesterday I arrived in Beijing to attend the 6th OOoCon in Beijing. I did a little bit sightseeing with some other project members. There are some meetings today in the afternoon. I'm planning to attend the NLC meeting.

In the last days some authors from OOoAuthors discovered that there were some spam accounts on the site. They were able to get an account and put some content with links onto the site.
This leads to the question, if there is a product for the CMS of the site (Plone) to prevent this machine generated accounts and spam. And it is: qPloneCaptchas.
It is an product, that could be easily installed in a Plone-Site (e.g. version 3.1.6). I tried it in my buildout of Plone and it was a little bit complicated. I got a hint from an other Plone user and then it installed.
Now a new user had to read and write down the letters from the captcha. This should prevent machine generated accounts.
